Hillseeker Performance Lab Functional Training in Richterswil, Switzerland

2012 brought a new series of classes at the Hillseeker Performance Lab and the Wednesday night running class in Zürich. We've had a great time training together, improving technique and getting fitter in January. It's time now to have a look at what's on tap in the coming months! Please check the associated links and write Coach Jeff in you have any questions and to sign-up.

February

Effortless, injury-free, smooth, natural ..... these are the words that should be associated with running.

Instead, we often hear the opposites! Despite decades of advanced shoe technology, injury rates aren't falling and many people interested in trying running to improve their health and fitness, find themselves frustrated by a lack of progress. And with the recent surge in minimalist shoe offerings, many people jump into a minimalist shoe and find themselves dealing with sudden achilles or calf injuries. It doesn't have to be this way. Running efficiently is as much an inborn skill as swimming efficiently, accurately shooting with a bow and arrow or striking a golf ball with a club.

While there are gifted outliers who have the skills naturally and don't have to work at it, most people have adopted bad habits that make running much harder than it has to be.

Are you an experienced CrossFit or endurance athlete looking for an extended challenge that will not only test your limits, but will also increase your mental toughness? If so, the Hillseeker Warrior Challenges series may be for you.

When?

We're happy to announce the hosting of a special hands-on Bike Repair and Maintenance workshop this winter! This is a great opportunity to shore up skills and knowledge that could make a big difference in the outcome of a sunny July afternoon in the future when you are faced with the attack of bike gremlins (invisible monsters who sneak up and do things like puncture your tire or break your chain)! Two classes will be offered, basic and advanced, and you may choose one or both.

Here's the important stuff:

Set concise goals, go after them with everything you've got and make 2012 your best year ever!

I want to help you get there, so I've decided to structure my classes in a manner that encourages goal-setting in managable and comprehensible blocks. Starting in January, Hillseeker Performance Lab sessions and Wednesday Night Zürich Running classes will run in 6-week blocks with a short recovery pause between blocks.

What does this mean? A fixed block of time allows for concise goal-setting and measurement and is designed to increase committment, focus and accountability. It will also offer an opportunity for a planned progression of technical skills and training load as well as cater for seasonal focus areas. And finally, committing to a full series will result in a lower price per class.

Functional Training: the concept is simple ... build fitness by doing natural things!

In our daily lives we need the ability to squat, to reach, to walk and run, to lift heavy things from the ground or lower them from above. We need the ability to climb over things occassionaly, to move something heavy from once place to another, to push or pull something, to balance and to react, to be fast or powerful, to stabilize and to be flexible. The human body has an amazing capacity to adapt and improve when faced with adversity, so functional training applies adversity to natural movements and in return better adapts our minds and bodies to the natural movements we are required to perform in our daily lives. And yes, it will make you a better runner, triathlete, race car driver, dancer, cyclist, golfer, parent, etc. More on this later.

If you're looking for CrossFit and Functional Training outside of Zürich near Richterswil, Wollerau, Wädenswil, Horgen, Pfäffikon & Schindellegi, please check out the Hillseeker Performance Lab.

Group classes are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the following times: 19:00 - 20:00

Your first class is FREE. All levels are welcome. Personal Training is available at other times as well.

Group classes can be organized at other times if we can get enough people organized for a particular time slot. This is a small business, so the schedule will be driven by demand. Please share your feedback and I'll look for opportunities to introduce other time slots.

Are you an experienced CrossFit athlete looking for an extended challenge? If so, this may be for you.
